An Old Farmer's Advice

Abstract: 

Fernando has been professor at University of Vigo and the University of New Mexico. His research interests lie in the field of Signal Processing, particularly, Multimedia Forensics and Security. He has co-authored more than 200 research papers and a dozen patents, and has been the principal investigator of a number of contracts and projects, five of them funded by the European framework programmes. He has been cofounder of several tech companies and was the executive director of Gradiant from its inception in 2007 until 2014. During 2008-2011 Fernando worked as program manager of Communication and Electronic Technologies for the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. He has been associate editor of four international journals, and has spent considerable time reviewing papers, and evaluating CVs and project proposals. After 25 years doing research and still crazy about it, he will share his experience, views, and advice, especially aimed at young and soon-to-be researchers.
